Will editing metadata change how the document looks?
No. Metadata sits alongside the page content rather than inside it, so the pages render exactly as before. Only the properties panel shows anything different.
Does this fully anonymise a document?
It clears the standard document info fields, which is where a name usually leaks from. It is not a forensic scrub — anything written into the pages themselves, such as a signature block or letterhead, stays there, so review the visible content too.
Why does Producer list software I never used?
Producer normally names the library or application that last wrote the PDF, which is often a converter or printer driver rather than the program you authored in. You can set it to whatever you prefer, including leaving it blank.
Is my document uploaded to read its metadata?
No. The file is parsed and rewritten entirely in your browser, so a document you are cleaning up precisely because it is sensitive never gets sent to a server.
