Are the presets the official requirements for my exam or visa?
No. They are common examples, labelled only by their numbers. Always check your own form's instructions and edit the values to match.
Why does it say my file is below the minimum KB?
A small, clean image can compress to fewer KB than the form's minimum even at maximum quality. The tool will not pad the file with junk data. Try a lower clean strength, turn cleaning off, or check whether your form accepts a larger pixel size.
Is a KB 1000 or 1024 bytes?
Forms rarely say, so the tool takes the stricter reading at each end: the maximum as 1000 bytes per KB and the minimum as 1024, so the file passes either way. The exact byte count is shown under the preview.
Does it change my photo's pixel size to meet the KB limit?
Only if lowering JPEG quality is not enough and you leave that option on. When it happens, the new pixel size is shown with a warning, because your form may reject it.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, cleaning and compressing all happen in your browser.
