The Private iLovePDF Alternative

pdfwithlove does what iLovePDF does - merge, split, compress, convert, sign, watermark, OCR - with one architectural difference that changes everything downstream: your file is never uploaded. Every tool runs inside your browser tab using WebAssembly, so the document you are working on stays on your own machine from start to finish. No account, no daily task limit, no watermark on the output.

Why people switch

Your document never reaches a server

This is the whole point. Contracts, medical records, payslips, passports and signed agreements are exactly the documents people put through a PDF tool, and exactly the documents that should not be uploaded to a third party. pdfwithlove reads the file into browser memory, works on it there with WebAssembly, and hands it straight back as a download.

Nothing to meter, so nothing runs out

Free tiers on cloud PDF services are capped because each task costs the provider server time. pdfwithlove has no server in the loop, so the concept of a daily limit does not apply. Process one file or four hundred - it costs the same to run, which is nothing.

No account, ever

There is no sign-up form, no email capture and no login on the site. You open a tool and use it. Nothing about you is collected because there is no account to attach it to.

It keeps working on a plane

Once a tool page has loaded, the engine is in your browser. Losing the connection does not stop a merge or a compression, because there was never a round trip involved.

Where iLovePDF is still the better choice

Where iLovePDF still wins: if you need a hosted workflow with team seats, cloud storage integrations and files that follow you between devices, a server-side service is the right shape for that and pdfwithlove is not trying to be it. pdfwithlove is for the case where the document is confidential, the connection is bad, or the free tier ran out.

Frequently asked questions

Is pdfwithlove really free, or is there a paid tier like iLovePDF Premium?
Every tool on the site is free with no task limit and no account. There is no premium tier gating features, because the tools run on your hardware rather than ours - there is no per-task cost to recover.
How can it convert PDF to Word without uploading the file?
The conversion engines are compiled to WebAssembly and shipped to your browser, where they run against the file in memory. The code travels to the document instead of the document travelling to the code. It is the same class of engine a server would run, executing locally.
Is there a daily limit on how many PDFs I can process?
No. Daily limits exist to ration server capacity; pdfwithlove uses no server capacity for processing, so there is nothing to ration.
Does pdfwithlove add a watermark to the output?
No. The file you download is exactly what the tool produced, with no branding added at any tier - there are no tiers.
Can I use it offline?
Yes, for most tools. Once the page has loaded, the processing engine is already in your browser. Some heavier engines fetch an extra module on first use, so the first run of those needs a connection.
What happens to my file after I close the tab?
It is gone. The document only ever existed in your browser tab's memory, which the browser reclaims when the tab closes. There is no server-side copy to delete because none was ever made.
Is pdfwithlove GDPR compliant?
The architecture removes most of the question: your documents are never transmitted to or stored by us, so there is no processing of your file contents to disclose, and no data-processing agreement needed for them.
